Hear is my theory on why there are not more conservatives in teaching either at a grade school, high school, or at the college level. When conservatives comesout of school no matter what level of education that person wants to persew a career that is going to be the best for him or her. They want to either start in a career where they can move up, have good benefits, and can either retire from this company or leave and start one of his or her own.
When a liberal comes out of school no matter what level of schooling the first thing is not a career. There decision is on what they want to do has to do with how they think America is screwed up and how can they help. Most liberals believe in unions, believe our education isn't good enough, believe that it is ok to teach same sex marriage, darwinism, Columbus started genocide, George Washington was a slave owner, and any other agenda's that they have becasue they are so embarrassed of their country.
This gives them the perfect forum. They can get them when they are young and teach them all of their screwed up views of the way they think it should be. In some sick way they actually think that they are telling the truth and that they are contributing to making America better.
Being a teacher allows them to join a union. Where they can't be fired for their performance or for spewing their agendas. Being a teacher allows them to get a pretty good salary. It allows then to work 9 months with 2 weeks off for Christmas. They get time off for Thanksgiving, Easter, Spring break and every holiday in between. They also get 2 months every summer off. They get great benifits and are allowed to work as long as they want and can't get fired unless they molest one of the students.
I was not a very popular student with my Professors when i was in college. Besides not agreeing with them on their political veiws it drove me crazy that a lot of them were not in touch with the real world. A lot of them never left their element. Some of them never worked in any other feild besides education. They were in their own world. They hung out with their own kind. If you opposed anything that they teached they would let you know with your grade.
So you see if you are not really motivated. If you believe that the government owes you something. If you want to spread your liberals views. If you want to go into a career where you will have a job until you want to retire, where you will have benifits, where you won't have to work hard, where there will not be alot expected from you. Then this would be your career.
A conservative knows that after school they are going to have to work very hard to get any where. A conservative doesn't want any hand outs. A conservative would actually be embarrassed to get a hand out. A conservative has a drive that would not work in the education field. If a conservative was in the education field he or she would be weeding out all of the free loaders, and testing all of the teachers every two years to make sure that they are keeping up with the standards. If they weren't keeping up then they would make sure that they were trained to get them up to speed and if they didn't then they would be handed their walking papers.
I wouldn't say that all teachers or Professors are Liberal there are probably some that are conservative. Just like finding a four leaf clover. I have never seen one,but they are supposed to be out there.
